2022 Interior Trend Recap
We wanted to end our final blog post of the year with a quick recap of the interior trends that took place in 2022. Below, we will go into 4 of our favourites.
01.
Shades of Green
One of my particular favourites is the popularity of the colour green. It is great to use when creating a modern and stylish interior design. Green is a natural colour that is both calming and relaxing, yet still shows a sense of energy and vibrancy. It can be used in a variety of ways, from an accent wall to an all-green room– we are particularly in love with using either sage or deep forest green. It also adds a touch of natural beauty and is often used in combination with other colours to create a unique and eye-catching look. Additionally, the introduction of plants is a great way to add green tones as well as make a space feel homely and serene.

02. Maximalist Colour Shapes
The Maximalist trend is all about bold, vibrant colours, lush textures, and eye-catching patterns. Think artistic and abstract prints with clashing colours– It's all about making a statement with your interior décor. To achieve this look, incorporate furniture with bold shapes and colours while layering them with a mix of textures. Accessorize with accents, like throw pillows and rugs and if you wanted to add even more drama use statement lighting fixtures and floor lamps.

03. Cottagecore
Cottage core is a design trend that takes inspiration from the traditional English cottage style. It emphasizes cosy, rustic elements and pastel colours for a romantic, homey look. Common characteristics of cottage core combine floral patterns, natural materials, white-painted walls, and antique furniture. This trend also includes natural elements such as flower arrangements, wicker baskets, and pottery. The goal of this style is to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that is perfectly wholesome.

04. 70’s Retro
One trend was looking back at the past for inspiration. Retro furniture and decor pieces are back in style, as homeowners look to create a warm and inviting space that is also aesthetically pleasing. Classic and vintage furniture pieces are being combined with modern elements to create a more eclectic look. As well as this, bold colours and patterns are making a comeback, as are texture-rich materials like velvet and leather. We were specifically happy to see the reintroduction of Mid-century modern, a great way to add nostaligia to the home.
